Why BEVS?
Our History
Since 1999, Burlington Emergency Veterinary Specialists (BEVS) has had a unique and rich history caring for companion animals of the Champlain Valley.
BEVS evolved from being a part-time ER service for 12 veterinary hospitals, then grew to serve over 40 animal hospitals, followed by expanding hours to nights and weekends, to today’s 24/7 emergency facility, complete with board-certified veterinary specialists in surgery, internal medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, and dentistry & oral surgery. In March 2019, we opened our new, ultramodern facility – with over 17,000 square feet, 12 exam rooms, an intensive care unit, three high-tech surgery suites, CT/MRI units, and 70 experienced, dedicated, and compassionate team members.
BEVS is the largest emergency and referral veterinary hospital serving Vermont and upstate New York. In fact, BEVS is the only 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital in the state of Vermont.

At BEVS, our mission is simple: To deliver the best veterinary care when you need it most. We do this by providing advanced medical diagnostics and treatments through our specialists and 24/7 emergency department, an expert clinical team that’s supported by some of the finest technical and front office staff in the state. We truly value the enormous responsibility and privilege of caring for you and your pet.
We are a group of individuals truly dedicated to the health and comfort of your pet. Our facility is designed for both emergency and specialty services and has the life-saving equipment and supplies needed to handle all types of pet emergencies. Patients and clients benefit from the synergism of multiple specialists and 24-hour emergency/critical care service in one state-of-the-art facility. We never close, so you never have to worry.
