BEVS Referral Protocol

Emergency Cases:

  • Have the attending veterinarian call to speak directly with one of our ER doctors.
  • Send records to info@bevsvt.com
  • Or send records through the portal.

Non-emergent or Specialty Cases:

  • Send records and patient information through the portal.
  • Indicate in the portal wether we should call the client, or the client will call us.

If you have any questions about the referral process or need to make a portal account, please email a.englefield@bevsvt.com

Doctor-to-Doctor Communication Required: Prior to sending a patient to our emergency department, please have the attending veterinarian call to speak directly with one of our ER doctors. This conversation allows us to:

  • Prepare appropriately for the incoming case
  • Provide immediate guidance if needed
  • Ensure we have the necessary resources available
  • Set client expectations

Patient Records Essential: Please send complete patient records with each referral. This includes:

  • Medical history
  • Recent examination findings
  • Laboratory results
  • Diagnostic imaging reports
  • Current medications
  • Any treatments administered prior to transfer

These protocols help us deliver prompt, appropriate care while maintaining continuity in the patient’s treatment plan. When these steps are not followed, it can lead to delays in care, unnecessary diagnostic repetition, and potential compromises in patient outcomes.

We understand emergency situations can be stressful and time-sensitive. Our team is available 24/7 at 802.863.2387 to facilitate these referrals as efficiently as possible.
