What to Expect During an Emergency

Learn what to expect during your pet’s emergency visit to BEVS, including triage, wait times, and treatment planning.

Our Emergency Care Process

At BEVS, we understand that bringing your pet in for emergency care can be stressful. Here’s what you can expect during your visit with us:

Step 1: Triage Assessment

When you arrive, a veterinary technician will perform an initial assessment of your pet. This brief evaluation helps us determine the severity of your pet’s condition and allows us to prioritize care based on medical necessity.

Step 2: Wait Time Information

Following the triage assessment, we’ll provide you with an estimated wait time. Please understand that wait times may vary depending on:

  • The current number of patients
  • The urgency of your pet’s condition
  • Other emergency cases that may arrive

Pets with life-threatening conditions will be seen before those with stable conditions.

Step 3: Examination Decision

After receiving your estimated wait time, you can decide whether to proceed with a veterinary examination. Our examination fee is $200, which covers the doctor’s professional assessment of your pet.

Please note: The examination fee does not include any diagnostic tests or treatments that may be recommended.

Step 4: Estimate and Treatment Plan

If you choose to have your pet examined, our veterinarian will conduct a thorough evaluation. Following this examination, we will:

  • Discuss our findings with you
  • Provide a detailed estimate for any recommended diagnostics and treatments
  • Answer any questions you may have about your pet’s condition
  • Discuss payment options and take a deposit if warranted.
  • Proceed with care only after receiving your approval
