Criticalist

Burlington Emergency and Veterinary Specialists (BEVS) is seeking a board certified or residency trained Emergency and Critical Care Specialist to join our growing team. BEVS is independently owned and operated and the largest emergency and referral hospital of its type serving Vermont and upstate New York.

We are seeking a motivated individual, who is committed to practicing high quality veterinary medicine and willing to help continue the growth of the emergency services within our hospital. We are a state-of-the-art facility, equipped with a full in-house lab, digital radiography, ultrasound, rigid and flexible endoscopy, nuclear medicine and onsite CT scanner.  Our practice is comprised of experienced dedicated professionals who are technically talented, caring and service-oriented. Emergency Veterinarian

Burlington Emergency and Veterinary Specialists (BEVS) is seeking a full-time emergency veterinarian to join our growing team. BEVS is independently owned and operated and the largest emergency and referral hospital of its type serving Vermont and upstate New York. Our well-established ER has been successfully operating for over 10 years. We are a state-of-the-art facility, equipped with a full in-house lab, digital radiography, ultrasound, rigid and flexible endoscopy, therapeutic laser, nuclear medicine and computed tomography (CT). Our professional staff is currently comprised of 5 emergency doctors, 2 surgeons, 2 internists, an oncologist, a physical therapist, and 2 interns.

Emergency veterinarians at BEVS are essential to the high-level medicine provided at the hospital. Primary responsibilities would include seeing walk-in emergencies and monitoring hospitalized patients. Candidates must be willing to work an average of 3 shifts per week comprised of overnights and rotating weekends.

Emergency and Critical Care Technician

Immediate need in our emergency department for full and part time positions for week day evenings, weekends and holidays. Relocation assistance included. BEVS offers 24/7 emergency and critical care, surgery, internal medicine, oncology, and physical rehabilitation services.

Emergency Technicians at BEVS are responsible for triaging, stabilizing, and treating patients presented to the ER for conditions ranging from vomiting/diarrhea and lethargy to vehicular trauma and foreign body ingestion. Technicians in the emergency department are also responsible for carrying out treatments on hospitalized patients.

We are looking for qualified candidates who want to work in a fast-paced high demand environment alongside other highly skilled technicians, boarded specialists and emergency doctors. Applicants must be hardworking, self-motivated, enthusiastic Veterinary Technicians, with special interest in Emergency and Critical care.

Applicants would have a minimum of one year of technician experience and be confident with nursing skills. Prior emergency and critical care experience and CVT (or eligible) preferred; pursuit of CVT and/or VTS-ECC encouraged and financially supported for full time employees.

Client Care Coordinator – Part-time

The Client Care Coordinator drives the flow of clients and pets through our busy hospital, maximizes the productivity of the veterinary medical team, ensures good communication with staff and clients, and coordinates the care of clients and pets in a happy, welcoming, friendly and efficient manner.

Available schedule is Thursday 4 pm–11 pm and Sunday 8 am–6 pm

We are seeking a highly motivated, compassionate, outgoing, and professional individual to join our growing hospital. The position involves answering incoming telephone calls, scheduling appointments for multiple specialists, checking clients and patients into the hospital and assisting them during checkout.

Qualifications:

  • Maintain a calm demeanor during emergency situations; relate effectively with various personalities and sense when someone is in distress, demonstrate sincere compassion.
  • Ability to perform tasks quickly and accurately in a busy hospital environment while shifting attention among multiple tasks under distracting conditions without loss of accuracy or appearance of frustration.
  • Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates a systematic approach in carrying out assignments. Is very orderly and excels at cutting through confusion and turning chaos into order.
  • Think quickly with a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Translates problems into practical solutions.

Internships

Internships are available for graduates of veterinary institutions. This program will involve 3 week duration rotations through internal medicine, surgery, and emergency. Other specialties may be added. Throughout the program, the intern will be mentored daily by an attending clinician. In addition, the program director will review overall progress. Meetings include daily rounds on days worked, biweekly didactic rounds, monthly journal rounds, and quarterly M&M rounds.

Externships

Externship opportunities are available to senior students of veterinary institutions. Externships are available throughout the year (with the exception of June) from two to four weeks but longer periods can be requested. We must receive a letter from your academic institution that you are in good academic standing and have approval for the externship.

We provide students with a complete orientation to our facility covering policies, procedures, standards and practices. Students will participate in many aspects of patient care of both hospitalized and outpatients during their daily schedule.

We do not provide accommodations, liability coverage or compensation to students for their learning activities during their externship. Students must have current tetanus booster, rabies vaccination and provide proof of active health insurance coverage during your proposed training dates.
