Client Service Supervisor

We are seeking a highly experienced Client Service Supervisor to join our 24-hour Emergency, Internal Medicine and Specialty practice. This is a newly created position in our growing team.

Under direction of the Hospital Administrator, the Client Service Supervisor (CSS) performs a wide range of advanced administrative activities leading a team to ensure optimum performance of the daily operations of our hospital.  This is accomplished through the management of the client services team that serve to support effective business operations ensuring that high qualify client care services are being offered. The CSS will provide administrative direction and coordination and provide services at the front desk in the hospital. The right candidate will love working with our clients and patients and leading our amazing team by example.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the efficient day-to-day client service operations of the front office. This includes training, coaching, developing, mentoring and disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Direct on-the-job training to develop employee skill sets, advise employees of performance requirements with the standards of client service for the hospital.
  • Resolve informal client complaints professionally and report on these issues to the Hospital Administrator.
  • Identify and provide recommendations for potential problems, non-routine situations, work flow processes, and client service needs to the Hospital Administrator.
  • Make decisions on behalf of the department utilizing good judgment, which demonstrates the best interest of the hospital and the clients.
  • Assist in the development and present employee evaluations.
  • Handle communication of financial information to clients and doctors.
  • Act as a liaison between front office and other department supervisors.

Bachelor’s degree with three to five years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership competencies with prior supervisory experience in customer service and/or veterinary field. Must be able to work flexible hours and days as needed.

Must be motivated by a challenging, fast paced environment and have concern and respect for animals and people and a belief in the benefits of strong human/animal bonds.

Emergency and Critical Care Technicians

Immediate need in our emergency department for full and part time positions for week day evenings, weekends and holidays. Relocation assistance included. BEVS offers 24/7 emergency and critical care, surgery, internal medicine, oncology, and physical rehabilitation services.

Emergency Technicians at BEVS are responsible for triaging, stabilizing, and treating patients presented to the ER for conditions ranging from vomiting/diarrhea and lethargy to vehicular trauma and foreign body ingestion. Technicians in the emergency department are also responsible for carrying out treatments on hospitalized patients.

We are looking for qualified candidates who want to work in a fast-paced high demand environment alongside other highly skilled technicians, boarded specialists and emergency doctors. Applicants must be hardworking, self-motivated, enthusiastic Veterinary Technicians, with special interest in Emergency and Critical care.

Applicants would have a minimum of one year of technician experience and be confident with nursing skills. Prior emergency and critical care experience and CVT (or eligible) preferred; pursuit of CVT and/or VTS-ECC encouraged and financially supported for full time employees.

Internal Medicine Technician

We are seeking an experienced Technician to join our growing 24-hour Emergency, Internal Medicine and Specialty practice. This is a newly created position in our Internal Medicine department with week day shift hours. Relocation assistance included.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to; assisting with appointments, running CT scans, prepping and assisting with ultrasound, endoscopy, thoracoscopy, bronchoscopy, and cystoscopy.  Medicine Technicians are also involved in chemotherapy administration and radioiodine therapy treatment.  Position is involved with all aspects of client communication in person and over the phone and are responsible for their patient’s well-being during the entire hospital stay (outpatient or inpatient).

Required qualifications include Certified Veterinary Technician with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a general practice or specialty setting. Candidates must be friendly, outgoing and people oriented. Must be a self-motivated, team player who thrives in a busy environment. Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate strong technical skills. Computer and telephone skills are a must.

Surgical Technician

Burlington Emergency and Veterinary Specialists (BEVS) is seeking an experienced Technician to join our growing 24-hour Emergency and Specialty practice including Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, and Rehabilitation Programs. This is a newly created position in our Surgery department with week day shift hours of Tuesday thru Friday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. BEVS is independently owned and operated and the largest emergency and referral hospital of its type serving Vermont and upstate New York. As an experienced surgical technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with surgical consultations and evaluations
  • Prepare and maintain the surgical suite
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain instruments and equipment
  • Assist in surgery
  • Develop anesthetic protocols
  • Administer anesthesia
  • Monitor anesthetized patients
  • Perform laboratory procedures
  • Take radiographs and conduct CT scans
  • Support and educate clients
  • Dispense medications
  • Maintain records
  • Perform daily treatments of hospitalized patients

Internships

Internships are available for graduates of veterinary institutions. This program will involve 3 week duration rotations through internal medicine, surgery, and emergency. Other specialties may be added. Throughout the program, the intern will be mentored daily by an attending clinician. In addition, the program director will review overall progress. Meetings include daily rounds on days worked, biweekly didactic rounds, monthly journal rounds, and quarterly M&M rounds.

Externships

Externship opportunities are available to senior students of veterinary institutions. Externships are available throughout the year (with the exception of June) from two to four weeks but longer periods can be requested. We must receive a letter from your academic institution that you are in good academic standing and have approval for the externship.

We provide students with a complete orientation to our facility covering policies, procedures, standards and practices. Students will participate in many aspects of patient care of both hospitalized and outpatients during their daily schedule.

We do not provide accommodations, liability coverage or compensation to students for their learning activities during their externship. Students must have current tetanus booster, rabies vaccination and provide proof of active health insurance coverage during your proposed training dates.
