Emergency/Critical Care Technicians 

We are seeking technicians to join our emergency/critical care team. Our ICU is equipped to provide advanced monitoring, transfusion medicine, oxygen therapy, and other life support techniques necessary for critical care.

Applicants should have knowledge of the following:

  •      Triage
  •      Physical Assessment
  •      IV catheterization/venipuncture
  •      Patient restraint (small animal only – dogs and cats)
  •      Digital radiography
  •      Drug calculation and administration
  •      Laboratory

Our ECC technicians carry out all inpatient treatments, regardless of specialty service. Our departments include emergency/critical care, surgery, and internal medicine. Technicians must also be comfortable with a little reception work, answering phones, checking patients in and out of the hospital. Interested in just part time? No problem! Internships are available for graduates of veterinary institutions. This program will involve 3 week duration rotations through internal medicine, surgery, emergency and spay/neuter clinic one day per month. Other specialties may be added. Throughout the program, the intern will be mentored daily by an attending clinician. In addition, the program director will review overall progress. Meetings include daily rounds on days worked, biweekly didactic rounds, monthly journal rounds, and quarterly M&M rounds.

BEVS offers externship opportunities to senior students of veterinary institutions. Externships are available throughout the year from two to four weeks but longer periods can be requested. We must receive a letter from your academic institution that you are in good academic standing and have approval for the externship.

We provide students with a complete orientation to our facility covering policies, procedures, standards and practices. Students will participate in many aspects of patient care of both hospitalized and outpatients during their daily schedule.

We do not provide accommodations, liability coverage or compensation to students for their learning activities during their externship. Students must have current tetanus booster, rabies vaccination and provide proof of active health insurance coverage during your proposed training dates.
